Plenary Talk in Joint Session - Thermal Energy Storage

Julian D. Osorio is a research engineer in the Building Technologies and Science Center at the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), formerly National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), since July 2019. Dr. Osorio completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at Florida State University (FSU) in 2016. He received an honorary Mechanical Engineering degree in 2008 and a master’s degree with an honor master’s thesis in Engineering in Materials and Processes in 2012, both of them from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Medellín. From November 2018 to July 2019, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate at INL. His research interests are based on thermal energy storage, underground geothermal-based storage, concentrating solar power technologies, thermal–electrical co-simulation in real time environment, integration of geothermal energy technologies into the grid, high-temperature materials modeling and simulation, failure mechanisms analysis, and hybrid energy systems.
